Elecon makes industrial gearboxes (helical, worm, planetary and spiral bevel) and material-handling and mining equipment such as conveyors, stackers, reclaimers and bucket-wheel excavators, and runs a foundry business.
Founded in 1951 by Ishwarbhai B. Patel in Mumbai, it moved to Vallabh Vidyanagar in Anand district in 1960, where it is headquartered.
