Ashok Leyland makes trucks, buses and engines and is India's second-largest commercial vehicle maker. It began as Ashok Motors in 1948 and took its present name in 1955. It is controlled by the Hinduja Group.
Its head office is in Chennai, with plants at Ennore, Hosur, Bhandara, Alwar, Pantnagar and Vijayawada.
